I was really split between Laughing Stock and Loveless. I voted for Laughing Stock because I find myself listening to Talk Talk more than My Bloody Valentine though.

Looking at wikipedia's list of albums released in 91, my choice would be Zappa's The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life or Make a Jazz Noise Here.

"Losing My Religion" was huge, and I think Out of Time is actually a really good album, so that's probably my favorite.

Of the ones listed in the poll, I have to vote for Nevermind for sheer cultural impact, with Loveless also big but in a way that was more "under the radar."

The "rock" genre was used to market anything because of rock and roll's popularity.
