On a very recent business trip to China I heard an excellent recording of Chinese folking songs by Song ZuYing playing at XinHua BookShop. I was stunned by the sonics and the performance, they had a reasonable good stereo setup at the audio-video section of the bookshop.

I purchased the DVD. It is a recording of the live concert "Prosperity" that Song ZuYing gave in the Sydney Opera House during the year end of 2002. The video quality is okay, but using it on the laptop with my Echo Indigo soundcard and a decent headphone, the recording sound quality is very enjoyable - her outstanding voice is well captured, her live performance was superb, and the accompanying symphony orchestra did well on the Chinese music material.

I couldn't find a CD version of this concert anywhere in Shanghai or GuangZhou. Good recording quality on such work is difficult to find. If you are interested in such type of music, check out the DVD, I highly recommend it.
