I have an Onkyo DX-530 I purchased many years ago. At the time a was the top of the line single disc player, 3 beam laser, motor driven volume control for the headphone output, digital output etc. This brand new top of the line unit was also plagued with some problems. Put a disc in and it would start chirping tiring to excess the data. It went in under warranty and the laser module was replaced. A few years later it started doing the same thing again. I put it in storage and forgot about it. I pulled it out recently and tried using it. Now the transport won’t open. Its making noise like it wants to but something internally is stopping it.

Is this unit even worth screwing with? Anyone familiar with the chirping laser issues and transport issues on Onkyo units? Anyone good still work on these dinosaurs?
