harmony is actually pretty close to where i live. do you let you try their grados like the store mentioned by marco2.

does anyone know of places that have beyer or akg? all the places mentioned so far has been for grado.

if you're going to SF via the airport, be sure to stop at that one audio shop around the check-in area. They have the entire Shure line-up, and when I was there last year the guy let me listen to E500s for as long as I wanted.

yes...i spent over an hour in there comparing various grados...mostly the gs1000, rs1, and rs2. they also have a ra-1 amp to power the cans.
