I plan on buying these as I've heard nothing but good things all around about them. I just have a few quick questions about modding them.

First off, does it matter when I mod them? Should I burn them in first or does it not make a difference?

Second, should I do the mod for the 900s on them (tearing off felt ring, dynamat-ing the cup, filling with acoustic stuffing) or do these phones not need it?

And lastly, are there any other pads that would fit on these? To be completely honest, they don't look all that comfortable so I'd like to replace them with something better.

Good choice!

You can do the felt mod whenever, give em a listen and decide if you want to play around with the sound. Follow this mod for stuffing the pads, not only adds comfort but improved sound-stage.

What graphicism the said. The other mods are not necessary and may actually make the sound worse, although some may like a dampening mod on the RX700. The felt mod and foam mod are pretty essential though, I'd say.
