I want to get A class portable headphone amp.
Please teach me which amps is A class.

This amp is A class, I know

1) SuperMacro

-Triad Audio Lisa III
- ALO Audio Rx amp
you cant go wrong with either of these as far as sound quality.

-the Lisa III is not so portable though and the battery life kinda sucks, but they are supposedly making a smaller more efficient one soon.

-the ALO Rx amp fits very well with an iPod, iPhone, iPod Touch. and the battery lasts fairly long.

The AMP3 Pro 1 or 2 are also class A and function as Class A amps too. their problem is hiss... but the battery is great and build is generally very good.

I'm sure they don't stack up to the other amps here, but they are still very good for the money.

Qables iQube is Class D, not A. It is a good amp, but if we are understanding the op, s/he wants a 'class a' amp of which there are a very few.

the op mentions several class A amps, and even capitalises A in his title and reference to the portaphile. I assume s/he means class A and i think it would be safe to assume that is the case.

I'm not really sure if all those amps are really class-A through out their operating mode as class-A amps are inefficient.

Well, that is true. That is why true Class A is somewhat of a debate as well as it is a marketing buzzword.

Portaphile in max mode, batt last only 2h. Xin SuperMacro in class A configuration can last around 18h.

why not? SuperMacro is using 8* AAA battery. There is so much more capacity in total compare to 9v battery
