9V NiMH battery ok for an 8.4V amp?

That particular battery will be fine for an amp requiring an 8.4V (or higher) power source.

"9V" batteries are a series of cells, each cell adding a nominal 1.2V to the voltage rating of the battery. If a "9V" battery contains 7 cells, it is an 8.4V "9V" battery. Other "9V" batteries contain 8 cells, and are 9.6V "9V" batteries. This particular battery contains 7 cells, and so it is an 8.4V "9V" battery. When it is freshly charged, its actual voltage will be closer to 10V than 9V, and, with use, the voltage gradually declines to well under 9V. This is the expected performance of a 7 cell, 8.4V, "9V" battery.
