I recently purchased Presonus Eris 4.5 studio monitors and have great results using an SMSL M3 DAC, I overall preferred how this little DAC sounds with these speakers than more expensive DACs balanced output. Only downside is when used with Windows 10 you cannot the change the volume on windows but if you download APO Equalizer you can adjust the preamp in that to lower the volume when needed.

may I understand why the volume can't be adjusted via windows after using the SMSL M3? also, does it improve mic output too? I don't need the headphone amp portion..

I believe its the way the device was implemented by SMSL, If your monitors/speakers have volume control you can adjust that and just leave it alone.

This device won't affect your microphone.
