I've got the oney, only got a liddle RSA Hoent amp, which would you go for and why? BTW already got the HD650's.

1) Ultrasone 900 pro
2) AKG K701
3) AKG K702
4) Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro.

I own the K701's and the only reason I got them over the K702's were that they were sexy white. The recabling option is better on K702's.

900.. Easier to drive out of a portable amp.

Why do you have your heart set on the DT990?

I am also a little confused, you state you already have a HD650, and yet your signature is full of Ultrasone. Do you have Proline 750 and HFI-780 or do you just put them in your signature to fill up space? What are your thoughts on the HD650? What sound are you looking for? Pro900 is cerntainly the most efficient fon you name in your list of suspects, however it still does sound a lot better with a desk top amp IMO.

Hope the sig looks better. I'm just about to ship my Proline 750's and HFI-680's to the lucky ebay buyer.

I listened to the DT990 pro headphones a few weeks ago, spent just over an hour with them and was far more impressed with the clarity especially with the clarity of the sound staging which i thoguht wa better than my HD's. I'm not saying that the sound staging was the best, but for all the reviews, I thought that the 990's would be bass heavy cumbersome sounding things. In fact I thought that my Proline's had more bass than the DT's.

I've got a few AKG's only at the lower end, but used examples are going for a reasonable price.

Sound? Something a bit more open than my HD's.

If you are looking for a headphone that will give you more details in the music you love, you may pick up for AKG K701/702.

But if you want an instant audiophile headphone, you may add to your list Grado SR225i.

I've just bought a pair of the 325is from a head-fi'er. I should get them next week. In the U.S. Grado is dirt cheap (in comparison to what we pay in the UK) but no one will ship to the UK. I guess that's the benefit of having connections outside of the UK (via head-fi).

Now, if I could only get someone to ship me a big tanker of Gas as well

The few months where I had rsa predator + akg k702 was a nightmare.
He needs a desktop amp for akg k70x
