How would you compare these. Is the open backed 800S better than the 820 closed back? Not sure why the 820 is more expensive?

The 800S I'm guessing is more breathy with the surrounding air environment based on my 800 experience. The 820 is more Blackended. It's slick with keeping the sound localised as the definition of headphones go... I like the dynamic essence of the breathy 800 but the 820 has it's own charm too.

Unless you need the isolation from a closed back headphone, I would avoid the 820 in favor of the 800s. Tbh though, I would avoid the 820 altogether.

Just avoid the HD820. There are better closed-back headphones out there if you are looking for one.
