anobody else watching the unravelling of the new 7800gtx 512mb? seems like a vendor released it early and someone has the card at home, pics and everything, he's installed it right now and the world is waiting for benchmarks

clocks confirmed are 550/1730 for the XFX branded card

cheers

SLI 512mb? I'm afraid a o_O emot just doesn't cut it. Thats surpassing the PS3 and 360 in terms of horsepower (and cost of course) and the PS3 wont be released until next year! I love PC gaming...

well i didnt want to bore you with specs, but

yes 512mb of the newest 1.1ns samsung GDDR3 memory, which is going to scream at 1730 Mhz stock. 24 pipes, same as the gtx, looks like the core will be clocked higher at around 550

speculation says this card can be clocked at around 600 / 1800 easily on stock air cooling, we'll have to wait and see until monday when the NDA is lifted and review sites mess around with the card

anyway,

theres a pic, and a link:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...t=59593&page=5

seems like one vendor began selling the 512's a little early and someone actually has bought it and trying it out at home,

cheers

How often are you guys upgrading your video cards?

I have a 9800XT thats about a year and a half old and I find myself needing to upgrade, but totally not wanting to. Why? The cost plus I would have to get a new mobo to boot. Must resist. Audio is a much more rewarding hobby.

audio is great but PC gaming comes in at a slight first
i currently have a very anctient 'rig'
athlon xp 2600 moblie
dfi ultra infinity nf2
1 gig pc 3200 corsair xms
nvidea 6600 gt agp
200gb maxtor dimondmax hdd
500w rosewill psu
silver raidmax case
custom water cooling system

this system can still play bf2 at high settings at 1024 x 768 but i can notice it choking when there are a lot of people on screen

i am sad because i have pretty much maxed out my components for an nf2 board
i will have to replace the cpu mobo and gpu if i decide to upgrade anything

ugh, time for an upgrade for me, my old system comprises of

barton 2500+ @2.315ghz
dfi nf2 infinity
1 gig mushkin pc4000/corsair pc3200 xms-LL
9600xt
36 gig raptor/160 gig maxtor
enermax 460watt psu
lian li pc-60 with custom watercooling (28c full load)

probably get something like a 3500+ on a dfi board and a midrange card 2-300 buck range

only reason is i've noticed bf2 start to lag here and there when to much is going on at 1024x768, not to horrible, but definitly nearing time to upgrade, and getting something that works with my ddr would help cut costs, rather then having to add in the cost of 1 gig ddr

I've downgraded to 6600. It was fanless and I'm happy with 800x600 all details off

I figure I'd wait unit mainstream cards can do 1920x1080 with everything on. I don't want to pay price premium for best cards.

nah, I'm good. I've already got a SICK overclocked Geforce 4! it plays CS 1.6 at 1600x1200 at 60 fps!

Actually, I'm buying a 6600gt, which is about the max I can put in my system without the new card getting bottlenecked. I've got an Athlon XP 1600+, cranks out 1.4 ghz of power. Sigh. I've only got a 4x AGP slot too, so any card with more than 128 mb of ram will be a waste.

The only thing that keeps me alive is dreaming of an AMD m2 dual core rig...

Yeah, the consoles are usually only ahead of the game during their first couple months out, but by the time they're a year old PC games just blow them away all over again

And with pretty much every card having DVI out and pretty much every new HDTV having a DVI in...well you know where I'm going with that. Takes HTPC to a whole new level, just need a good wireless mouse & keyboard.

I was thinking of saving up for the W5000's.... but that card is mighty tempting. I didn't feel justified in upgrading to a regular 7800GTX, but this card might just be too much to resist. My current specs:

Athlon 64 3700 SD @ 2.65
1 gig Mushkin Lvl II BH-5
Powercolor X850XT @ 580/570
DFI NF4 Ultra-D
Dell 2005fpw
74GB WD Raptor
PCP&C 510 SLI
Silverstone TJ03B

I probably wouldn't care that much about upgrading if I had a regular monitor. But this widescreen monitor looks so good at the default resolution (1680x1050). I have trouble running F.E.A.R. and CoD2 at 1680x1050 without turning off some of the shadows and turning down texture resolutions.
