Impressive how much they had done to review the card, always nice to see that they care for what they review, BUT:

Makes me think that the reviewer just said to hell with RMAA and all the "studio work" they have done, when they think the ZS is even "at the same level of quality". That's blasphemy.

Two things
1) Why didn't they test the card at 96khz and 192khz
2) Why didn't they mention that the 1212m uses the same converter as the 1820m and not the lower grade one that the 1820 uses and why on earth weren't they testing the m models to begin with?!?

1. They are using WDM driver.
2. May be they forgot/don't know/don't bother.

You're probably right, but those were meant more as rhetorical questions that were intended to suggest the lack of knowledge and concern when it comes to high quality audio from the average non-audiophile.

Ie, Audigy2 for games provides the quality that the Emu's do for music.

Damn...who cares what speakers they used to audition the card with? They hardly said a thing about the sound quality anyway, which is completely subjective. Their big thing was the measurements.

Another review maybe worth having a look at:

funny how creative regional offices are sending 1820 cards to review sites and not the better performing (in measures, and hopefully subjective listening) 1212m/1820m

That's because the 1820 has the functionality that a pro is looking for without paying that premium for the better dac. Many people don't care all that much for budget oriented projects. My friend, for example picked up an 1820 because he didn't want to pay for the m version on something so insubstantial. Functionality is king for him and many others.
