Hi, was wondering how this particular tube sounds - JAN Philips 6922 6DJ8 - eBay (item 400076713824 end time Dec-31-09 08:00:16 PST)

I was thinking about getting one but was wondering if this was any better than my current Sylvana 6DJ8 tube.

Also do let me know if there are any other good tubes for cheap. I dont want to spend much more since I paid only $50 (including shipping from HK to India) for my tube amp (brand new !)

JAN 6922 is a great tube. I can describe its sound as a full bodied, with wide and deep soundstage. It rather extends bass and midbass. Highs and midrange are smooth. Overall JAN6299 sounds relaxing but still dynamic. I prefere it over Electro-harmonix 6922 which is rather cold and sharp sounding. EH6922 got deeper bass though but less dynamic and bodied

@ piotrus - Your feedback of the tube sounds more or less how I like my music - a bit laid back with deep bass and a wide soundstage.

I ordered the tube from the link I posted. $14 + $4 shipping from the US to India is an amazing price. Now the hard part is waiting.

Though thankfully shipments from the US arrive in half the time as shipments from HK/China.

I wish my wallet liked this site as much as I did.
