I have to decide which of them to get. I don't listen to rock, mostly smooth jazz, pop, 80's pop, 90's eurodance, sometimes mainstream-rock. I like acoustic music and female voices. And piano too

. Do 600 are better for me? I'm afraid I take 600 but how about amping?

I'm going to use them with my home stereo receiver. It tears apart my 32 ohm phones at full volume(at 50% volume driver does max excursion , starts to make awful sound and starts to hurt ears) but I don't know do my amp have enough power to drive 300ohm 600s.

My 32ohm phones are rated 102db@1KHz

600 vs 600 avantgarde? these are exactly the same?

I read some posts where 300ohms senns were powered by av-710

and it was listenable (not enjoyable altough). I tried to put my 32 ohm phones in av-710 Wolfson dac and it didn't make right to even these 32 ohms

Also some posts say that ipod can power senn 600. Is ipod much louder than av-710 out of wolfson dac??

If you don't have a surplus of driving power, I would just go for the 50ohm HD595s. Unless you see an amp upgrade in the near future. Everyone's threshold for sufficiently driving a pair of high impedance headphones is different. Sure you can listen to your music on HD600s driven by an iPod but it is just nowhere near even tapping its sound potential. There are cheap amps out there that can power the HD600s. But if there is any question about power, just go with the HD595s.

It's not surprising that the AV-710 had trouble driving 32 ohm cans, the poor DAC was never designed to drive low-impedance loads. A home stereo receiver should be able to drive HD600s to pretty high volume levels, how good it'll sound is another matter.

You could do your own comparison by getting both from a place with a return policy, and then returning the one that you don't like. I honestly prefer the sound of the 600 to the 595, but I have no idea if your receiver can drive it properly. The 600 has a colder but lusher sound, with more impact and more coherence. The 595 is warmer and has more detail in the bass, and is more forward in it's presentation.

I'd just like to point out that this is not a universally-held opinion.

If you were to add the qualification "For acoustic and classical music with a good amp" then I'd agree, but not without qualification like that.

Hd595 blow away hd600 especially in rock and pop with/without an amp. Hd595's bass alone is superior than hd600's muddy bass

i only like hd600's vocal.

Im also interested in the differences, As a 595 owner for a good 6 months I'm debating upgrading to the 600s and letting the 595s go. Source is APX ->gilmour lite. I don't want to change ships if its not worth it, I listen to rock and trance mainly, and love the warmth of 595s.

I'd say the 600s are warmer than the 595s. But they do require more power, not just pure power, but the right power. Synergy.
I wouldn't say that the 600s blow away the 595s in every category. I think overall they have a much more refined sound but aren't as fun. I couldn't decide between 595s and 650s so I have them both. And they both have their place. It's a tough call.
tola555, it's hard to tell if a receiver will be good for headphones. Just get them both and send back the one you don't like.

do what I do. get a pair of 595's and 580's and have the best of both worlds. Then add a grado later down the line for flava.
