and yes, HD650 grills do fit the HD600 and HD580. All 3 headphones have interchangeable parts.

Its probably because the HD580s are a very old model(first made in the early 90s), so I assume they went through subtle design changes throughout their life?

I found a cool site that does all sorts of replacement parts. If I ever feel the urge I'll get a Jubilee headband.

Heh, you're the 5th person to ask! Hopefully this link will stop the barrage of 'Jubilee Headband' PMs!!

Pretty obviously this is a UK site.

Strachan Electronics

£75 for the Jubilee Headband plus delivery. It is a pretty rare thing though, so...

edit - Overseas buyers send them an email for a quotation.

After much begging and many QTB posts, I was able to snag a pair of HD600 grills for $12.00 each, shipped. While this is more that the $12.00 a pair previously charged by Sennheiser USA, the USA warehouse no longer stocks HD600 grills. They will *GLADLY* sell you HD650 grills for only $37.00 EACH !! So, if you are looking at a pair of HD580's, want to mod them and live in the USA, be sure to factor in $74.00 for the HD650 grills and $16.00 or so for the HD650 cable. If buying the HD580's new, you'd be better off just buying the HD600.

My 600 grills were $6.75 each from Sennheiser USA, in about November.

I posted a pic in this thread, you won't get a much better one. I took lots and found it really hard to get the light right.

I don't know why, but cwuzer is a Fraggly name.

Ah too young. Fraggle Rock. An 80/90s TV show by Lord Jim Henson, you must have heard of him, he made the original Yoda.

so wait....what does fraggly mean exactly?

cwuzer is a name which I think resembles a Fraggle name.

So 'Fraggly' could easily be 'Fraggle-like'.

The 650's grills are silver, while the 600's are dark gray/ light black. Headroom claims that the 650's grills are harder, and they seem like they might be.

Yes, most likely those would account for the differences. Might be a difference in the way the drivers are mechanically damped in the earcups, but not sure about that.

I'm sure that was the goal of Sennheiser in discontinuing the HD600 grilles, to drive more HD600 sales. But people who dent their HD600 grilles won't be happy.
