I tried on a pair of HD 555's the other day and they felt a little tight. To be fair I do have a big head, but do they loosen up a little after a while or will they always have that crushing force?

also, I'm used to the bass on my SR60s, and I just want bass that's a little deeper and punchier than the SR60s. How's the bass on the 555 compared to the SR60s?

Thanks all.

I had the same problem with my HD 555s at first. I clamped them over my computer tower for two nights (you can also use some books though). Since then they are as comfortable as a sofa.

I have relatively small head, so clamping pressure wasn't an issue. They should loosen up though. If bass is the main concern, then keep your SR60. The HD555 won't provide the same head-rattling bass. On the other hand, it provides a refined, detailed, natural sound with quite a broad soundstage. If you like your SR60, then go up the Grado models eg SR80, 125, 225, 325.
