Hi folks,

I have a couple of questions. I'm not sure which forum this should be placed so please forgive my possible error.

Would my Cambridge Audio 540c v2 be considered a bright or dark source? I ask the same question for the Corda Aria?

For rock/alternative music, which headphone would suite this setup? My current contenders are the HD650 and K701.

Would a silver RCA interconnect help lift the 'veil' off the HD650 and make the K701 too bright? Or will it just be money wasted?

Thanks.

Don't wast money on interconnects now. They do little. And either the HD650 or k701 will work. Only your ears will say if the HD650 is too dark or the k701 is too thin. Personally, I like the 650's bass and soundstage for alternative music, but that's my tastes. They seem the best headphones I've heard for percussions. The best thing to do is either audition one or the other....or just buy both

Hello and thanks for the fast reply.

In order to add more complication, would either the HD650 or K701 be an obvious step up from the HD555? Would they (HD650 and K701) benefit more than the HD555 from a good source and amp such as the 540c v2 and Aria?

Yes it is a big step up, and 650 benefits much more from a good amp then 595/555. I think it seems like senns overall is good for rock alternative.

About the Cambridge, from the tests I have read, they should be more to the bright side, that was also what I was thinking when listening to them together with B&W, Cambridge is relly great for the price no question about it.

EDIT: Oh, did you mean which one is the natural step up from 555, then if you liked the 555 I really think you are going to like the 650.
