Hi. I have pink Floyd's dark side of the moon recorded at 5.1 96/24 (massive files haha) and I'm trying to down sample it to stereo 48/24 wav for my iPhone. When i downsaple it and listen to it it doesn't sound right. It sounds the same as when I'm playing the flac and set my device in vlc as a 5.1 device.

I think what is happening is instead of mixing the 6 channels into 2 for the wav it is just chopping off the extra channels and leaving it as is. Is there a way to mix the channels together?

I really want to try that too with my 5.1 Opeth records :-\

You could do that quite easily in foobar2000 - just by adding 'Convert 5.1 to stereo' to the list of Active DSPs (for listening to the original files) or when using the Convert function just add the same DSP to the Processing list.
This may sound cryptic if you're not a f2k user, but it's quite easy to do once you have it up and running.
