Hi, I recently bought a pair of adapters (4-pin XLR 1/4" TRS) to help AB test some of my amps that only has 1/4 jacks.

However, I noticed one sounds noticeably different from the other. I bought them together from a seller on ebay who apparently makes them to order, using silver OCC headphone cables. While, one of the adapters sounds normal, the other exaggerates the bass and imparts a interesting soundstage? (sorta like an exaggerated tube-ish distortion?).

Could the sound difference be a result of something wrong with the build of one of the adapter? Or perhaps the use of different cables? How would a poorly or incorrectly built adapter even sound like?

Actually, the weird sounding adapter is pretty fun to listen with. I have been enjoying listening to songs with lots of sub bass. That said, it completely fails to serve my initial purpose of AB testing different amps.

Any insights or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
