I've been playing around with the platter height on my AR-XA as it was a little high for the belt to hang onto the inner platter at 45 rpm. I put it all back together and rechecked the tracking force, overhang etc. - but didn't have a 45 handy.
I remembered I bought my SO the latest REM LP (Accelerate; also came with a CD) for the holidays and just gave it a spin and the sound quality is absolutely, un-freakin' believable. I mean, just astonishing compared to the CD. And I don't have any particular fondness for REM.
I see that Stereophile runs ads from vendors that sell 45rpm jazz LPs.

This could get ugly, $-wise...
