I have done chip amp using LM3886 before, and liked the sound. I wonder how a properly built 41Hz amp3 sounds like, when comparing to a properly built Gainclone?

My main interest points are the sound stage (which one is wider) and tonal coloration (warmer? cooler?).

can anybody shed some light on this, please?

Ok, cotdt, I give in. How did you mod it???

I have an amp6 basic that sounds pretty good considering the cost. I also have an unfinished gainclone kit. When I eventually finish it I can compare but it is low down on the priority list.

The 41hz amps have the advantage of potentially being super small builds since they can run off smps. I was have been thinking of ordering another 41hz amp to build a super small 8' speaker guitar amp for travelling. I just need to work out a really simple preamp.

the amp5 uses the same +/-20~35V power input as a LM3886 chipamp, no?
