Hey,
I could get my hands on a pair of sennheiser ie 800 for about 200 euros. The IEM is geniune but already 4 years old and was heavily used. Do you think it is worth the risk?

not in my opinion.
200 Euros is quite a bit for a pair. (any pair...)
Don't forget that everything has an expiring date, at some point cables let go and break, dirt clogs up the orifices.
If it were me, I would not purchase them.

First of all too many conflicted opinions about them. Second - you can't use aftermarket pads cause they are of proprietary design. Third - for 200 euros you got plenty of options. Fourth - you may get new pair for 400 euros if you know where to search.

If I were you, I wouldn't. €200 is not a small amount and I won't risk it.
