Aren't those cards free now?... or almost free? I never said the clip+ is a good deal, I only said that compared to the touch (as a music player) it is cheap, yet sounds great. Buy a SONY, than you have good buds, SQ, storage... and you are still at $100 bucks! Buy a touch if you need a computer and 85 000 apps, don't buy it as a DAP. And why exactly glass and metal so advanced? Plastic came far away, it is not what its used to be! Plastic is pleasing, warm, light, durable. You want classy? Make it out of wood!

Well, if you combine a $69 8GB Clip+ with a 16GB card, it's about $110. An 8GB Touch is $199 ($179 discounted). For the cost difference, you do get a lot more features with the Touch, but not 24GB of music storage. Comparing them on SQ alone, in that case, doesn't make much sense to me. They serve entirely different purposes. I owned both, and eventually sold my Touch (guess I just didn't care about all the bells and whistles, must be too old). Still have two clips, including that 8GB+16GB Clip+ combo.

I agree the difference is large re ability (the Touch crushes the little Clip+). But if you want a pure player with good sound and storage, why get a Touch. This is just a comment on the OP ("Move over Clip+...).

We arent talking USB sticks here, Jack. The 16GB might be cheaper in your neck of the woods, but they push the price of the Clip up significantly here - our dollar is currently at 0.92USD, btw.

You are getting ripped down under...Amazon.com: Dane-Elec 16 GB Class 2 microSDHC Flash Memory Card with SD Adapter DA-2IN1-16G-R: Electronics

I got a 16GB card at newegg for $42 recently.

exactly! Not to mention that the 8 GB card is 15 bucks. That with the 8GB clip is what, $70? For 16 GB storage. Although my 16GB SONY S639 was $120, only 50 more and a world of difference. And also, Down Under an Ipod is not $300 but more like $500

$42 still isnt as cheap as I'd like to see a 16GB card - I know its not the same as a terabyte HDD in terms of manufacture, but compare the cost per gigabyte ...

Well I have a 8gb micro as for my G1 cell phone. I have 2 and they were $14 each

I recently got the 32GB touch 3rd gen and it is an amazing little toy. I'm on it right now at home doing wifi and replying. With music streaming to my stereo with Bluetooth. Not bad. I got the 32 gb 3rd gen for $249 so not to bad and I sold my 80gb classic for $135 so the touch was a decent upgrade as I'm only using 20gb.

All the games and apps. It's crazy I was just playing madden on it. But the clip is pretty nice also I don't have one but I almost got a clip+. They both serve different purposes but the 3gs upgrade to the touch I'm enjoying very much

Exactly. If you want just a music player for sole purpose of listening to music with good sound quality, the clip+ is the better choice. If you want a player that has the "latest" touch technology, like to use wifi and watch videos, the touch is a better choice.

A 16 Gb Micro SDHC card can be had for $50, so the clips still around a third the price

after having two sansa fuzes' flake on me I finally decided to give the 3g touch a go. It's sound quality is much better than the sansa. Even my wife was surprised at the difference. haven't listened to the clip so can't say about that one but I'm very happy with the touch. Not too much power in there for my bigger phones, but plugged into my mini 3 it has both SQ and heft.

Cilp+ does have gapless playback. I used it on a live CD, and no gaps. I thought the same and someone here corrected me.

The gapless on the Clip+ isn't perfectly seamless with some stuff though. It works perfectly with Black Sabbath's Live at Hammersmith Odeon, but not Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon. If you want perfect, gapless, seamless playback, put Rockbox on a 4th or 5th gen iPod.

My question is a bit out of topic, but The primary author did mentioned about he owning 5G ipod Nano and the 3G ipod touch. I am undecided on which one to go at the moment. SQ is my prime concern so can some one please advice whether touch or nano has better sound quality? I read too many articles where they argue over this but so far hasn;t been able to read comments form people who really owned and tested both players out seriously. Thanks!

The clip+ plays my flac files gaplessly. I just got it yesterday and put the 16gb chip from the rockboxed Fuze in it. I have been using rockbox on 5G ipods because of gapless flac which is the way all my music is on my hard drives. I use portables primarily at the gym and this clip+ seems perfect. It has what seems like higher output and a more balanced sound than the Fuze did. Rockbox on the fuze was ok but nearly impossible to read. I use KSC 35's.

I will probably get rid of at least one, maybe more of my ipod 5G's. I have 2 H180's and too many toys as it is.
