Not sure if this was discussed or not but this is pretty cool idea although it sounds like completely horrible its just a very cool idea.

Its a good idea in theory, but the resolution of the printer keeps it from achieving an accurate recording. Most 3-D printers cannot make very thin deposits, the width of the grooves is wider, and the depth of the groove isn't as smooth.
