so I am not super familiar with Apple products. In the past have the Ipods been using the same audio hardware as the Iphones? So should audio SQ be pretty much the same with this Ipod Touch as the current Iphone 6 and 6 plus?

The previous touch had a lower output impedance than the corresponding iPhone.

EDIT:
iPhone 5: http://www.kenrockwell.com/apple/iphone-5/audio-quality.htm
touch 5G: http://www.kenrockwell.com/apple/ipod-touch-5g/audio-quality.htm
both devices from 2012

The Touch has always sounded great. The interface is awesome.  Having Wi-Fi and apps is great.  The negatives are paying a ton for storage, having to deal with iTunes and the ability to drive some headphones and IEMs

I wish they had bigger models like a 512GB or 1TB edition...
You'd think the sizes would have evolved by now.

Do you guys use this with compressed music? Or is it for the streaming apps?
Either way, I'm surprised that head-fi'rs are interested in this.

I use my iPod Touch as a storage device. With the digital line out through the CCK Camera Kit my RSA Intruder DAC/amp is doing most of the work. I have a completely lossless music library so I needed the additional storage but 128GB is more than enough.

Is it coming tomorrow?

I'm just getting the cheapest device with A8 chip for the sake of trying Relisten Player and iAudiogate etc.

They're having TLC NAND performance issues with iPhone 6 Plus etc. and I don't feel like paying 400 bucks for an iPod Touch if they're still going down that route. Hopefully I'm getting my 16GB with MLC NAND instead since it could be luck of the draw, LOL

I only listen to a small number of albums and 16GB is fine. Maybe I'll swap the logic board with 128GB MLC NAND version in a few years when it's much cheaper.

This makes things interesting as it offers another option to people. I have an old Touch that is almost full with lossless music. I want the option of using a digital out. What is the CCK Camera Connection Kit?
