Is a joules rating of 370 any good?

I'm planning on plugging in my UPS [for cpu] to a surge protector.

later....

I'll also want to add [in a different outlet] a brickwall [for audio components] ........



was wondering if a rating of 370 is a good pre-protector for my primary protection gear.....

"Energy absorption/dissipation - This rating, given in joules, tells you how much energy the surge protector can absorb before it fails. A higher number indicates greater protection. Look for a protector that is at least rated at 200 to 400 joules. For better protection, look for a rating of 600 joules or more."

370? I say NO.

If it is split between 3 lines (HNG) it would be about 120 each.
That's enough maybe, to catch a lightning bug fart, then blow up.

Got to WalMart. They have a 2870 joule one for $28. And it turns off when fried, so they say.

Just a recommendation.

2350 is the minimum I'd use. Tripplite's Isobar series, and the Isotel (with phone line) are well-built, metal, and well-reviewed.

Costs around $50, more or less. Worth every penny.
