it really depends on the track itself too, like you probably wouldn't waste 320cbr on book audio... other than that, just pick the size you want (i'm assuming you really only care about space since you're sticking this on a portable) since the quality gain becomes less of a factor from v2->320

On a portable device I couldn't tell the difference between 320 (lame v0) and 192 (v2) so i use v2. I thought I could tell the difference between v0 and v4or5. At home i use FLAC (lossless). Just test it yourself and find out what you prefer based on your needs.
