Friend of mine came looking for advice on what 30 bucks would buy him on earphone market.

Could be earphones, but he is also hoping for some isolation so I guess in ears would be a big bonus.

Any ideas?

Just bought some Marshmallows myself.
Unmodded, they have excessive bass. If you like your subwoofer turned up to 11, you'll like them this way...
Me, I'm planning to mod them.

mod as in poke a hole in the middle, right?

Oh, and what about the FX55 and FX66 models?

i am also looking for the best headphones or canalphones at around $30 that are fairly easy to get in the US.

i have a pair of koss ksc75's that i use for my casual use but the volume control is doing weird things like there is static in it but it also moves a bit and depending on where the volume control dial is it makes one phone go out until its moved to the best place.

i also have a pair of Grado SR80's.

i want something that sounds good for the money at around $30 for more casual use, road trips, stuff outside etc. but also will use it for gaming on my pc because i don't have much for an audio setup on my pc besides headphones.

well thanks for any suggestions.

Sony MDR-ED12LP-remove the rubber piece, exposing the driver and remove the paper covering half of the holes.
