When I bought my Acura Integra in 1990, it cost me $10 U.S. to fill it up...now it cost over $35. I wish my salary went up at that rate!

My motorcycle only gets 35 MPH so, it isn't much better than my car (but a helluvah lot more fun!).

It would be tough to carry my family and camping gear on those unless we got 4 of them....but that would be 4 times the gas money

I've seen $3.50 for regular here in the Howell/Freehold area in NJ.

It's now around $3.50 for regular most places around here in the D.C./Baltimore metro area as well. It's AMAZING to see people lining up to pay that much for gas.

I saw a recent quote from some economist type talking about gas prices where he said "So far, Americans have proven remarkably resilient with respect to the increased gas prices we've seen this year." To which I could only say DUH! It's not like any of us have any choice. We're not buying gas as a hobby or for fun. Don't have gas, can't get to work. Can't get to work, don't get paid. Don't get paid, no more food, no more place to live, bad times. People will pay $10 a gallon if that's what it costs. You'll just hear a lot more complaints, see a lot more drive-offs, and notice that we are spending less money on other things because it's going to fill the tank instead.

$3 a gallon here from the Arco AM/PM station ... I'm glad I didn't trade my car in for a fullsize truck I was looking at a few months back.

Yup - with mpg in that range you'll save $750 for every 7500 mi you ride.

However, the talk yesterday in NJ was...
"...gas prices are starting to come down."
"...people are still buying SUVs."
"...people won't change their driving habits around here."

fascinating, captain.

Today it's $3.48 for a gallon of unleaded regular in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. The lines at the Costco pump station is incredible long with gas prices there being on the average of 20 cents cheaper.
