I have several headphones with TRRS Microphone 3.5mm plugs. I want to use a 1/4" adapter so I can plug into my desktop amp, but the TRRS plugs seem to be a bit too large, at least I can't get it past the 3rd ring. Is the TRS and TRRS jack supposed to be sized differently? Or perhaps the 1/4" adapter brand I am using has a hole that is too small. Do they have TTRS 1/4" adapters, or would I need a different brand 1/4" adapter, or do I need a 3.5mm TRRS to 3.5 TRS adapter?

I've always assume the 3.5mm TRRS plug and 3.5mm TRS plug are the same size(?)

Something like a 3.5mm Smartphone and iPhone Headset to Dual 3.5mm PC Adapter might solve your issue.

So you would not use the orange plug, just the green one.

To my surprise, all 1/4" to 3.5mm adapters are not made the same. The SoundOriginal ($7.99 for 5 pack) from Amazon did not fit the TRRS jack (headphones with mic/buttons), but I forked up for the Sennheiser 549346 ($10.90 for one), and it fit the TRRS ones just fine. I think $10.90 is a bit expensive for this, but I don't want to spend any more time trying cheaper brands unless anyone else can confirm if they work. The SoundOriginal ones would have worked if the hole was like a tad bigger, like not even a mm.
