So I purchased the Samsung A970 phone which has an mp3 player and a proprietary plug that is used for connecting a 2.5mm headset.
After purchasing a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter at Radioshack, I thought I would be able to use my UM2's when playing music, but no... the sound is mono, and no matter how much I play with the connection, I can't get a stereo signal.
So I checked at the Samsung site for a solution and saw that they had a cable with the proprietary plug on one end and a 3.5mm on the other. I was sure my problem had been solved, but when it arrived I had a similar problem, only this time, by nudging the plugs a bit I can get a stero signal, but it won't stay there without holding the plug.

If anyone have an idea what to do, I would appreciate it.

Sounds like one of the contacts on the inside of the jack in the phone is bent too far in, and isn't making contact w/ the plug.
You could look inside (the jack, not the phone) and see if you can easily bend it back outwards with a needle or tweezers or something.
