I've got an unopened iPod Shuffle (2nd Gen) that's been sitting here since last year, and I'm not sure whether to crack it open or sell it. Can anyone comment on the SQ of this little guy? What hardware do you use with it?

Well, it's been unanimous so far in saying that:

1.) there is noticeable hiss with either low-impedance headphones or just all-around hissing

2.) The 1G iPod Shuffle SQ is noticeably better.

Hope that helps.

The hiss is noticable on my IEMs. But it's not bad on full sized cans.

On the upside, the size really is amazing. Ignoring thickness, there are postage stamps that are bigger.

I use the 2G shuffle with a KSC75 and it sounds very good. For me it works great for a 2 day supply of music, then 10 minutes to wipe it clean and re-sync....a few hours to recharge. I love the little thing.

The very small amount of hiss with my E4 & ER4 is no problem and very unnoticeable with any music that I listen to.
