  Two of the most over engineered power amps (a little off thread here) are my 300B I call "The Silver Dragon" and my 807 amp named "Luciano".

No, they aren't overengineered, they are just perfectionistic. Look at Krell, ML and so on (preferrably not Class A models) - that is overingeeniring for you - so many stages, so many components, so many feedbacks, even a couple of smart tricks here and there, best measurable parameters on market and so on.
