I just bought I used PPA off the for sale forum. But I live in New Zealand and we use 240V mains power over here. So I need something the equivalent of the Elpac power supply, that runs on 240V. I did try a search, and from that I gather that I need a "regulated" power supply. But if anyone could enlighten me in fairly simple terms about exactly what I am looking for, and what the advantages over "unregulated" are that would be great.

Also, if anyone knows somewhere in New Zealand that I can buy one that would be great.

Thanks

davyy, you got a PM~
btw, if your PPA has STEPS in it, you don't need another power supply as a matter of fact.....

It doesn't have STEPS (my budget was pretty limited) but thanks anyway.

And look at that, I found the thread by myself

I got mine from http://www.sicom.co.nz/ - 24V regulated. You might be able to get a switched mode one that's both cheaper and lighter, but I couldn't give you a source for that. Same place perhaps, they have loads of stuff. Or maybe http://www.dse.co.nz

If you could get a linear power supply instead of a switched mode get the linear one. Switched modes will be cheaper, but for audio, the linear one is better. That's why Elpacs are prefered.

How much did it cost you? I briefly considered it, but it's too much hastle for just one. And it's been a little while since I did high school/university electronics. $55+GST is quicker and easier

Hmm, less than $55x1.125 . I can't remember. Actually I bought the transformer from DSE, but the rest was stuff that I could get at the same time as META42 parts.

Davvy, are you the same Davvy that bought a pair of D66 off me? I swear those were impossible to sell!

Commando,

Thanks for that, I have sent an Email to that place. That looks good - and for a reasonable price too.

Yeah, I am. That was my first step along the Head-fi road to financial ruin. I got a lot of enjoyment out of those, but now they are pretty much retired as I have moved on to bigger and better (and more expensive). Thinking of giving them to my little brother.

I don't think they replied to the email I sent, so I just ordered online and it turned up the next day. Handy place, i've bought a few things from there since

Thankyou again, I have now ordered it through their website. Great to see that there are some New Zealanders around here - and helpful ones at that.
