I'm choosing between the 2

Shure SRH 440 or SRH 240

Consider everything, looks, SQ, everything

I want to hear from people who auditioned or owns both, so dont say FWIR

TIA

I doubt many people have actually listened to both, they might have had all of them at canjam (or some other convention) and a few people listened to all of them, but I'm not sure.

Have you tried the search function by chance?

Doubt the search is going to help much, except for reading the beginning of the long LEAK thread - I haven't seen other impressions. Hopefully the other two hold up as well in their respective price categories as the 840

I tried the search and only the leak:shure thread seams to be the most usefull, and still doesnt contain enough info

Well you can always save up a bit more and buy the 840s, which are better than the 240s and the 440s!

people say 440 are 90% as good as the 840 so it's really hard to say

And there is a delay in stock for the RP, as you know, so you can wait for reviews to come.

Or if you want, I'll ship whichever you choose from here to you if you pay shipping and let me review them.

I just did.

Brand new member and I don't know anything about audio other than I wanted something to use besides my ultimate ears superfi 3. I just came back from Guitar Center with the 440's and I don't know what to say other than I like them, although the bass didn't seem to kick in at all until I started messing with the equalizer presets on my ipod. I tried out the HD-280's but decided on the Shure's just because they are new and I have a "problem" with always wanting to try the latest and greatest.

I'm not sure how to review it so I'll just say that it's been good for any type of music I've thrown at it so far: alternative/rock/electronic/dance/techno/rap/hip-hop. These headphones made me realize that I have a lot of crappy quality songs on my laptop also. I thought there was an issue with the bass on hip-hop songs at first until I realized that it was just my music files.

Overall, I'm pretty damn happy with this $100 purchase, although I wish I had more knowledge about this kind of stuff because this is a pretty crappy review

Most are bypassing the 240 and 440's and going straight for the 840's. i'm going for it .. the 840's i think.

would be nice if someone can give a str8 answer and just tell us which is really better. I mean if you can't tell the difference between the pairs, why are you buying the 840s? ( most people seem to do this, not saying anyone here is but usually thats how it is )

would love to know if the 440 is the better deal than the 840. It's double the price and it should be double the quality >.>
