[2021 Update] Venture Electronics (VE) Monk V2, Monk Plus & Monk Go: a $5 earbud that taking the world by storm!!!

well, good for us but to be honest I feel a bit embarrassed to pay only 5usd for a product of such an audio quality… its makers should get a well-deserved profit for it, the shipping cost is almost as much as the Monk's price, that's mad!

Looks fine, but what´s so special about the connector?
Oh, ok it´s balanced. Does it make sense? I´ve read that going balanced is only useful with higher Ohm headphones like 320 Ohm VE Zen for example.

The original Monk sounds better from my Fiio X1 than it does from my Samsung Galaxy S6.
The Monk+ sounds better with the coloured sound of the S6 than with the X1.

This leads me to believe the X1 is quite mediocre in sound quality. Maybe I need an Ibasso DX80.

I feel like the Monk+ is very "A or Z" in the sources it requires. Either it's a coloured smartphone DAC or a really good neutral source. Anything in between won't sound as good.

X1 is little dull in sharp sound stages... dx80 is a worthy upgrade over x1.. i recently got dx80 and its miles better than x1 :)

My Monk+ order has been submitted and eagerly waiting for it. I still cannot believe how good these sound with a tube amp! Haven't touched the K702 & 650s

Spread the word. Nobody wanted to believe me that they beat my HD600 by a country mile.

Simple - they don't - I think Lee would agree with me on that too.  They are great earbuds - but HD600 level .......

And as far as beating the HD600 by a country mile - what was he running them out of

what will be the best comparison then?

Give me another week with them first - premature impressions are ...... premature (and usually not accurate)

I want to test them alongside some of the other gear I have, and also with different sources

I will say that so far, they are very very good - and for $5 an absolute steal.

I complete agree with Brooko. I think the monks get the "gestalt" of music right at an AWESOME price (which is an achievement!) - but they don't essentially replace a HD6xx or the likes.

Well, for me they do. Don´t know why that´s such a problem for some. I can very well live with the fact that others disagree. My source is the Fiio X7.

A good comparison would be anything in that price range. I will be comparing the Monk+ to the originals, the Fiio EM3's, and the Edifier P275's (not really fair there, since they are IEM's but close enough in price to allow a good fit). Also any original bud included with Smartphones.

Some reference to any of your higher IEM's is also not a bad idea, to help see how far up the "food chain" the Monk+ goes.

Also, I just bit the bullet and ordered ANOTHER Monk+, but with the expansion pack. I figured all of my complaining about the excellent $5 value goes against spending more $ on ear hooks/etc; would be a worthy test for $10. Why not! Cheers.

Oh, I don't think anybody has a problem with you enjoying the monk more than the HD600! after all it is musical enjoyment that matters not gear. I was just sharing my opinion, cheers.
