That's why you need to represent!

Bring it. I read all the lists and sample a lot of stuff.

Thrice's Beggars will probably be album of the year for me. But I might be a biased fan

Same here. I'm an unabashed Thrice fanboy, but Beggars is probably my second favorite (to Vheissu) Thrice CD so far. Dustin's vocals on Beggars are as cathartic as anyone I've ever heard.

Their 2006 self titled album was/is fantastic and this 2009 new release is more of the same-FANTASTIC. Maybe even a step up, but the impact of the first album I heard had so much of an impression on me it is hard to decide whether this 2009 effort is better or not. If you like guitar (accoustic, flamenco, rock, jazz, hybrid) then there are no more exciting, entertaining releases than this one. MY vote for album of the year (so far). What would I rate this album out of 10. Well 11 of course.

YES, YES, AND YES!! 11:11 is a masterpiece. I definitely prefer it to the self-titled album, it's all of the good --improved -- with none of the bad (I'm not that big into Flamenco, and this album is a lot less Flamenco-y).

My favorites this year (I've really been enjoying 2009's releases

):

Rodrigo y Gabriela | 11:11 (My favorite of all of these! EDIT: #2 now)
ASC | The Astral Traveler (Some great ambient)
Plushgun | Pins & Panzers
Imogen Heap | Ellipse
Pure Reason Revolution | Amor Vincit Omnia
Karnivool | Sound Awake
Informant | Informant Demo 2009 (A demo CD of some very catchy electronic/dance music. PM me if you want this, you likely won't be able to find it and it's a free release.)
Danger | 09/16 2007
Ochre | Like Dust of the Balance (More great ambient, very organic and lush sound)
Long Distance Calling | Avoid the Light
Maybeshewill | Sing the Word Hope in Four-Part Harmony (My new favorite! Accept and Embrace is just breathtakingly good.)

I'm probably the same way with Clark. In my world he craps daises and pees lemonade. Totem's Pole was played out around here..

Hah, good to see I'm not the only Thrice fanboy (see my username)!

Initially I wasn't too impressed with Beggars but it's really grown on me. Sure, they are still quite a few weak tracks in my opinion, but the melodies are still insidiously catchy as always and the drum work especially is stellar. Plus I think Dustin's vocals have progressed tremendously back from TAitA/Vheissu days and before that. It'd probably be in my top 10 for the year, but to me a couple of weak tracks really weigh it down.

In many ways I'm still stuck in 2008, and I've mostly given up trying to keep up with new releases.

But one album of this year I'm rather pleased with is Wavves' Wavvves. They're the only band I know of that is referred to as '****gaze'.

Fruit Bats' The Ruminant Band was no disappointment either, and with Abnormally Attracted To Sin Tori Amos reassured me that she's still got it.

Doubt anyone else has this on their record players, but I'm really enjoying AFI's latest record for some reason. I'm a big fan of their work '99-'03 and I gave this one a chance out of curiosity's sake. The title is pretty crappy and its nothing life changing, but I'm having fun with it. Judging by the times I've played it since I got it, its one of my favorite releases so far.
