I have the AKG K702 (Without the bumps) right now. I may end up returning them if I am unable to make them comfortable in the next few days. I will not pretend to know audiophile terminology well, but I will try my best to outline my wants.
Sound:
I really enjoyed the sound signature of AKG K702. I liked the soundstage, neutrality, and detail -- I will be using these for gaming. I don't mind sacrificing bass for detailed mids and highs. I have tried AKG K702 with Brainwave XL Gel pads and I preferred the stock sound. Compared to the M50x and TAD500, I much preferred the K702 sound signature.
Comfort:
The problem I had with these is that they pushed the area under my ear and caused discomfort. In the past, I have used ATH TAD500 and found them comfortable other than the earpad resting on my earlobe -- thus, causing discomfort after a few hours. I have tried several AKG headphones at Guitarcenter and found the AKG K240 Studio to be comfortable. Unfortunately, they do not have the sound signature I am after. I did not find Beyerdynamic DT770 that comfortable for the same reasons as the K702.
If there's anything I can do to make my preference/situation clearer, feel free to comment below. Ty for your help!
