2 great "classical" cans

I'd say for orchestral works, the AT W100 or the Beyer DT990(06). The W100 has a nice reverb which gives any concert hall a nice bloom, while the DT990 has very good detail and full range sound.

For chamber/solo pieces, the AKG K501 or the MS Pro. For sheer intimacy, the K501 is hard to beat, while the MS Pros give that "you are on-stage" sensation.

I love my AKG 501s fo classical. I find myself reaching for them more and more. Great classical cans.

Can you please elaborate why? Did you compare two, was it with stock or aftermarket cable?
Personally I adore Zu cabled HD650 for classical work, but I never heard HD600.
Thanks

I don't have a Zu for my HD650s, I did use the cardas and stock 650 cables with both of them though. The 650s seem more colored, have more low end than I want with classical. Truth be told, there isn't a huge difference between the two, so I figure I will keep the cheaper set of cans that I like just as much and not spend another $200 on a new cable. Plus the 600s I have are a bit more comfy than my 650s because they are more easily adjusted (the earpieces are hard to move on my 650s, very annoying).
