I am, at the moment, quite dedicated to buying a pair of Definitive Technology Studio Monitor 350 Bookshelf Speakers. Part of the attraction is the base I know these are capable of without adding a subwoofer, as I am currently stuck in a dorm. The issue, though, is the power it takes to drive them. They claim to be driven by anything from 20w-200w, but from what I have read they don't take well to anything short of 50wpc and prefer 100wpc or better. I only have about $100 left in my budget for an amp, so if anybody has any suggestions, that would be awesome.

Considef active speakers youll get better sound for your money, but if youre already set on that set up then look at the 50 watt tamp offering from mono price or on ebay at 100 or less I think thats as good as you can get.

Best thing to do is just look at your local Craigslist and buy a used receiver. Unless you live in a very small town, shouldn't be hard to find one if you watch it for a week.

What city do you live in?
