I pulled out of storage the original receiver my father purchased in 1978. I had heard that the old receivers sounded great from the headphone out, but this one needs some TLC. It powers up and plays music in both channels, but it really needs a good cleaning with a can of Caig. The right is good, but the left is not as loud. if you pull the HP plug out a little bit, the mono is equal in sound level. So I'm sure that the headphone jack just needs a really good cleaning. 
 
I cleaned up the front face plate and knobs. As far as I can tell, all functions work.
