Hey guys,

Have a Zx300 Dap and Beyer Amiron Home. Sounds so good. In fact, it sounds so good that I now hate my Sony XM3. So, I'm looking for a closed back headphone with good isolation. Don't care if it's bulky. SQ and isolation are my priorities, as I will use them in a loud environment sometimes.

Of the above, what has the best clarity, soundstage, bass presence, and isolation?

Thanks!

I was actually thinking of the LCD 2c. Any thoughts on the Sony MDR Z7? These 2 have the largest drivers, and I know the Sony's are dark, which is my preference. The V moda can be a lot of fun but lacks the clarity and separation that I want.

I have heard the MDR-Z7 before, and the LCD-XC still sounds better for what you want. I just noticed that you said LCD-2C and never heard of those, so I please notice that I said that I only heard the LCD-XC.

You were right. I picked up the Z7. They are good, but not as good as the Amiron, and they are open back!

Well, the LCD-XC are much more expensive than the MDR-Z7 as well. If you can return the Z7 and don’t mind used items, you can look for used MrSpeakers Ether C (for Closed) 1.0 or 1.1 for around $700.

I had a chance to check out the LCD 2. They sounded great, but way too big. I think T5p is the way to go for me.
