I already have a pair of Audio-Techinca A700's, but I want to get a secondary pair of headphones, either in ear or full-size.

Sound Wise I'm going for something darker, a little more poppy on the base side. My A700's are analytical enough for me, so AKG 701's are not what I'm looking for. I will not be using an amp.

This forum will surely be the one the help me figure out where to throw my money haha.

I would have said the HD600, but you don't want to use an amp. Honestly, I think you're money would be better spent on a source and amp. (Maybe an ibasso boa, which is both an amp and dac). Anyway, sorry I couldn't help you more.
