Well, I've been browsing/enjoying head-fi for years but never had much to post, but now that I have a question
I can't do so cause I haven't posted enough already. Apparently I'm supposed to start by posting here.

If I ask the question here I doubt anybody from the Hugo 2 forum where I want to post it would see it. So I guess
I'll just put up 14 more dummy posts. Sheesh. You'd think having been a member for years would be sufficient
to remove suspicion about one's self but I guess not.

Searching on the Hugo 2 forum yielded no specific answers, so here goes:

My Hugo 2 works fine over USB conncected to my laptops or my Hidizs AP-80. Solid, reliable connection,
so I don't think the Hugo's usb port is flaky (apparently a possible issue). When I try to feed the Hugo from
my LG v40 phone or A&K SP-2000 DAP via usb, the Hugo never sees them. I've tried many different OTG and
non-OTG cables and all the possible settings in the devices and nothing works. I can BT them to the Hugo fine
and I can optical the SP-2000 to the Hugo fine, but I would like to be able to use usb for the higher res stuff.
After all the reading I've done online with stuff that seems conflicting/confusing I'm no longer even sure I can even
usb the SP-2000 to the Hugo. I think I'm supposed to be able to, but I'm no longer sure. I want to use the SP-2000
as a dac and the Hugo as a headphone amplifier to drive full-size headphones (e.g., HD-800s, PS-2000e, etc.).

Any comments appreciated (but not expected, lol).

Thanks from a dormant head-fier.

EDIT:

So posting this inspired me to actually dig some more, lol, so for what it's worth I found: on the SP-2000 there's a scroll
from the top down "quick (ironically misnamed) access" menu that I haven't used much cause, at least in my unit,
it takes many swipes to pull down and sometimes I just give up. One of the settings is a USB/Disk one which I thought
was properly set cause it was on USB as opposed to Disk but it turns out there is a third toggle which says "USB audio".
Okaaay...........(more or less hit it by accident). So, typical operator error. But this setup is not the most intuitive/user
friendly. And due to my own stupidity/ignorance I'm really not clear whether the files coming out of the SP-2000 are
"MTP" just using the SP-2000 as a transport or if I'm putting the SP-2000s dac signal back into the Hugo's dac--not
sure how that signal path would work. Either way, have to listen to it a bit now and see what I think. I would up using
the non-OTG cable for this.

On the LG V40 phone, again using the non-OTG cable, I repeated going through the many USB audio settings
in USB Audio Player Pro, some combination (out of many tried very unscientifically) of changing settings with
various cable connection/app powering up combinations, and realizing I had to wait longer for the Hugo to figure
out what was going on when I changed something, I finally came up with something where the Hugo would see the
usb input and I could hear music at least for a while. Then it would 'detach' per the app. So again, operator error,
along with finicky USB Audio Player settings. I'll play with them some more when I have time. I also have Neuron player
on the phone and will try that too when I can.

Tl:dr SP-2000, didn't have the correct usb option toggled from the drop down menu.
LG-V40 USB Audio Player Pro 2.0 settings finicky, will also try Neuron player.
