1212m driving dual mono cans?

According to this thread it should be possible to drive cans rewired as dual mono from the differential signal (i.e. ring and tip on the TRS outputs on the 1212m).

Did anyone try this straight out of 1212m outputs unamped? Will it work for 64ohm cans (HD-280) or 40ohm (ATH-A900)?

don't know about anyone that actually tried that, but it can work without a problem, just remember the output impedance is 75R, so if you're trying to connect lower impedance cans it's not ideal, high impedance cans would work just fine..

How about swapping the output resistors to match the can impedance/2? Will it make things better (other than louder)?
