I have enough knowledge to work out the details myself, but what exactly would i use for the following operation?
I want to use and audio signal for control (either headphone or line level) to control the amplitude of a 120V signal, in this instance for lights).
I can work out the details of signal conditioning of the input, but what is the least complex method to make a mains level signal modulate with the same waveform as a small (mV) input signal?
I've done this for smaller DC and AC loads with BJTs or other amps, but I am not familiar with power control at the 120v level. Would a relay be a simple way for a basic on/off on the 120? What method would be best so that the output magnitude is a direction gain (on 120V scale) of the input?
