Too much for a stepped attenuator for a headphone amp or will it work? If it matters I'm using Senns w/ the amp (going to build either a ppa or b22). Anyhow if anyone is interested in a cheap attenutor there is a pretty cool one on glass wares for $40ish dollars. You can obviously change out the resistors to get different impedances.

100k will work fine in most applications. 50k seems to be popular as being sort of the "middle of the road" between 10k and 100k.

As far as stepped attenuators go, John Broskie's attenuator is a great deal, if you can cope with the multi-shaft coarse/fine/finer arrangement.
