I listen to a lot of heavy metal and I'd like to know which headphones for around $100 would be great for metal instruments such as electric guitars, bass, and especially concerning percussion and snare drum sounds. It's important that the bass isn't loose and boomy but very dynamic and "tight".

Also, I listen to a lot of original, non-remastered tracks if that's relevant. And my budget may change quite often lol.

The Grado SR80i sounds absolutely perfect for your tastes.

Grado's are great for metal. The Sony MDR-V6 might also fit but it has a deficiency in the midrange.

I listen to metal, and the ms1 sounds great and is forgiving on some raw production material (black metal still sounds good ;P).

My source is a sansa clip, and possibly a good cowon player in the future. Portability is factor and I do not plan to buy an amp.

I think I will be ordering myself the grados for christmas but I still don't know if I should spend more money on 80i's. Does anyone else have experiences with the differences between them?
