Great DAC, plus ADC, balanced in/out preamp, name brand, what's not to like for $800?

Seems like it would be very hard to duplicate all of those features for the money.

I want one, bad timing though

It would be totally worth trading my new Fubar I/O with Supplier PSU + $500!

And I'll throw in my new Maverick D1 with two NOS tubes to make it $300!

Hmm, maybe this is workable...

Ok, I gotta' ask... what the heck is the point of the ADC in this thing? Why would you want to take analog, convert it to digital and then back to analog? In a studio, sure, but for a home audio system? This would just degrade the original signal.

For converting vinyl, "the original Hi-Def"

Until I hear this PS Audio DAC I presume a new $500 SRP Pro-Ject S2 DAC would smoke the PS in audio-performance. Estimated used S2 price $325-ish.

I further presume the electrolytic caps in the PS are dry and need replacing at significant cost. A used component in constant use would be less likely to need new caps (such caps have longer shelf life "wet" vs. "dry" unused.)

If you buy this NOS DAC, use a variac on it; bring it up to full voltage slowly over a week or 10 days. The caps will thank you for it.
