Not sure I'd trust myself to DIY ear mould impressions. I'd much rather spend a little more to get a trained audiologist to do it properly. Especially if that CIEM is 1k, 2k or more.
In for a penny, in for a pound, as it were.
If I were getting kilobuck CIEMs, yes, I'd go to an audiologist. I was thinking of trying this with IEMs that cost less than the audiologist visit.

It surely depends on the country and audiologist, but in France I went 3 times to 3 different places to get molds done(for ciem or fancy custom ear plugs), I think the most I paid was 50euro.
Without a clean mold, it’s very unlikely that the final custom shell will both seal well and be comfy, even thought it’s the entire point of going custom.
I’ve had issues while always going for professionals. That’s how little error margin you have with stuff going in your ears for hours.
